Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Mustafa Abubakar said there was no plan yet to replace the present State Electricity Company (PLN) chief because the government was still making an overall analysis of the company`s management.
"There is no plan to replace him yet. We are preparing a comprehensive management analysis," Abubakar said here on Friday.
For the purpose, the government had set up an inter-departmental team consisting of representatives of the finance, energy and mineral resources and state enterprises ministries.
The team would evaluate the performance of PLN`s management, the minister said.
Besides evaluating the PLN management`s performance, the team would also work out a comprehensive concept of regulations and financing scheme needed to solve the power problem in the country.
Amid widespread complaints about frequent blackouts from members of the public and the business community, rumors had been circulating of late that the government would replace PLN president director Fahmi Mochtar.
Dahlan Iskan, chief executive officer of Jawa Pos Group and owner of an independent power producer (IPP) in Kalimantan, was rumored to be a strong candidate to replace Mochtar.
On this rumor, Minister Abubakar said he could not confirm it.
"Let`s wait for the result of the team`s analysis to see whether or not measures need to be taken to improve PLN`s management. I will tell (you) later. Our priority now is finding suitable persons to fill managerial vacancies in Bulog (State Logistics Agency) and oil and gas firm Pertamina," he said.(*)
