Los Angeles (ANTARA News/AFP) - Los Angeles International Airport, one of the largest in the United States, operated normally Friday without any visible enhanced security after an attempted bid to blow up a plane in Detroit.

"For now everything works without extraordinary security measures," said a Transportation Security Administration officer at the Delta-North West Terminal at LAX.

No anti-bomb squads were seen at the airport after the incident in Detroit where a Nigerian man tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight carrying 278 passengers from Amsterdam.
Flights were leaving and arriving on time in Los Angeles.

Passengers appeared to pay little attention to events in Detroit.

"I have no idea what happened in Detroit and is better not to know, but the boarding process has been easier than usual because fewer people are traveling today," said one of the travelers who identified himself only as Anderson.(*)
